Connect Event

At the beginning of the first school year at Fontys, I got the assignment, together with four of my classmates, to organize an event. We also got entitled to a certain task, and I was chosen to be the chairwoman!

The assignment was pretty clear: organize an event, where you pass on the EMEG-industry (Event, Music, Entertainment and Gaming) to your visitors. There’s is a minimum of 40 guests (friends and family), and next to that there must be two extern sponsors. We also had lots of other rules and things, but I’ll spare you the details.

The first fase of our project, was to make a quick scan, where we had to do researches in the Event, Music, Entertainment and gaming branch. Next to that, we also had to take two interviews from people who work there. My first interview was with Karel van Deurzen (WiSh Events) and my second interview was with Kaïa Sikteoeboen (KRO & NCRV).

The second fase was to create a concept of our event, we brainstormt a lot and wasted a lot of paper, but eventually we came to the concept of CONNECT! An event that is meant to “connect” teenagers and adults, with the use of inspiring guest speakers, entertainment and a cosy evening. Our slogan was: “Experience, share and connect!”

On the 18th of December 2014, it was finally the day of our event! We started early in the afternoon with the set-up and had a very busy evening starting at 6:30 p.m. It was a very successful evening, with a lot of smiling faces and positive reactions. During the preparations, things got pretty hectic sometimes, but I’m very happy with the end results!
